The Fusion Theatre Company in Albuquerque, New Mexico every year holds a ten minute play festival with a different theme each year, offering seven playwrights the chance to have their work staged. The winner for Best play is given a cash prize and a trip to New Mexico to participate in the festival. Jen Silverman won the first place that year when two of her plays were selected. Notes on Drowning is a surreal meditation on a brother and sister, the contemplation of suicide and a beautiful ghost who is a muse to them both.
